Cool Crowd and the end of Rush
The Cool Crowd's always been about the 1-hour dramas.
The not-so-cool crowd:
Chuck: I was piqued the last two weeks because of my girl Rachel Bilson, but I honestly didn't pay any attention this week. I think the spy gags are just not interesting and none of the Buy More stuff works for me. After that, what's left? They've amped up the juice between Chuck and Sarah, but it's still not enough to really keep me watching. Wake me up if it gets any better.
Bionic Woman: I know I said this was out a few weeks ago, but I thought I'd keep pushing forth. The "education of..." episode was alright. What's followed have been some more interesting overall stories, but I still can't get connected to Michelle Ryan's Jamie Sommers. I don't care about her as a bionic woman or as a sister. Then, last week's episode with her on the phone with her CIA boyfriend in the middle of a mission was just sloppy, irritating, and stupid. (Stupid as in plot.. and stupid as in writing.) THEN, to make the scene ever worse, she was written to say a really tacky line. Bleh. DONE! All this show does is make me miss Alias and BSG that much more. DONE!
Moonlight: I thought the episodic stories were strong enough despite the questionable dialogue, but this is a Friday night show that I'd only watch when completely distracted. I also doubt I'd be watching it if it wasn't in HD.
So, really, that leaves: Pushing Daisies and Gossip Girl as this season's adds. Oh, there's Dirty Sexy Money, but I'm not sure what to do with it. It's really different from what I've normally watched... it and Gossip Girl don't have an overarching otherness that LOST, VMars, BSG, and others have. Maybe I'll leave it out of my rankings. Oh, I forgot about Reaper. I rarely watch that show, but I'll catch up. I guess that's still in Rush Week.
So for the Cool Crowd schedule:
Sun: BSG
Mon: Heroes
Tue: Bones
Wed: Pushing Daisies, Gossip Girl, LOST
Thu: Smallville, Supernatural
BSG: Razor's showing this Saturday. I didn't go to the screening. I never got an email confirmation, so I didn't go. I was also lazy. I've heard good things. I don't want to hear anymore. Just want to watch it.
I'm all but 1 week of being caught up to Heroes and I'm pretty much at the same place as last year: I don't care at all about Niki Sanders or Micah.. and I feel the same about Micah's family in New Orleans. Bleh. Waste of time. Does Masi Oka really have to play that awkwardly in those romantic scenes? I'm glad Sark aka David Anders has found his way to present time. I knew they wouldn't just sign him on for a flashback gig. I still love Kristen Bell even if she's a meanie. All that junk in Feudal Japan could've been dealt with at ease since it's obvious Hiro's got full control over his powers. This show's stupid... but I'll kepe watching. Waaaaay sloppy on their use of powers and their rules. BTW, when did Nathan's wife get cured of her paralysis? Oh, then. Totally forgot about that.
I miss LOST. I watched some Season 2 episodes on my ipod the other day. I MISS THE SHOW!!! I really miss BSG also.
Smallville's been missing a lot this season. I don't really like all of this hyper-krypton stuff. Everyone is everywhere. There's too much screentime for Supergirl who isn't all that cute or well-acting. It's lost most of the charm it had before. It was a simple teen soap that modernized and WB'ed the Superman mythos. They've had to grow and I was pretty much on board until now. It really is the last season. They better pick it up. I've never been this consistently disinterested in Smallville since I've watched it weekly!
Supernatural's been one of my ignored shows due to the bottleneck of my DVR schedule, but it really has been the most entertaining so far of my regulars. Bones is always fun, but the procedural moments can get tiresome (the interviews of the possible suspects - not the science or banter in the lab or between Bones and Booth). BTW, the demons on Supernatural are getting hotter and hotter per week. good to gain some pull!
With the writer's strike seeing no immediate end, can TNT amp up their HD episodes of Alias. I guess Alias HD started in Season 3 because I haven't seen any of the first two seasons on TNT. I wish they'd start an Alias comic book. Hmm.
Pushing Daisies continues to be one of the most visually and mentally pleasing shows of the season. I hope they can keep it up. The whims and the winks and the nudges may be hard to keep fresh.
Gossip Girl's still super fun.
And for the sitcoms...
30 Rock's been on fire ALL SEASON! ON FIRE! The latest episode's staying on my DVR until I get the DVDs.
Scrubs has been hitting on most cylinders this season, also.
How I Met Your Mother is still guaranteed laughs.
I've fallen off The Office, but everytime I've seen it, it's still been ridiculously funny.
ahh.. tv.

TV time's limited. OH NO! A strike? OH NO. Respite? NICE!
Who knows how long this strike's going to last? I hope not too long. But, it might be a siege for the comic book industry (depending on how long it goes). How about a Guggenheim run on an X-men monthly? What about a Brian K Vaughn run on an X-men monthly?
Oh wait. X-men's stuck in another catastrophic, money-making crossover.
Well... what about a Guggenheim or BKV run on Birds of Prey?
Okay, off topic.
Life's a bit busier nowadays with work and Xbox Live. I'll hopefully be receiving NBA Live 08 and Madden 08 by the end of this week. Plus, last week marked the start of National Novel Writing Month. I am currently about 5100 words meaning I'm about 1550 words behind (almost a full day) despite my attempts at a run for par last night after the very good Pats-Colts game.
Oh wait. This is TV talk not monkey and garlic fried rice and eggs time.
Brian Williams was alright on SNL. It seemed like he had greater range than he was allowed to show - you know, what we all thought of Alex Smith before we were reminded of the contrary yesterday.
OH. Just get to the TV already you babbling imbecile.
The down Chuck
One week removed from my original thoughts on Chuck, and I'm completely over it. The gags are lame. The character development gags are lame. It's just lame! The actress who plays Sarah was on a late night talk show, and she was really pretty - and Australian. But the show is still lame. Goodbye, Chuck.
The up... I mean good Chuck
Pushing Daisies, Episode 4, where Ned gives Chuck a bee farm on the roof of the restaurant, ended with them waltzing in Bee farm protector garb.. and Chuck wearing green Chucks! Ned, btw, has always worn CHUCKS! It's a subtle note, that we totally disregard since Chucks seem fitting for the type of guy Ned is and the type of clothing he wears, but he's always been in love with Chuck and is always wearing Chucks. Fun!
