Being a whore of creative process...

I suggest you read this interview with TV and Comic Book scribe: Marc Guggenheim (who's tv show, "Eli Stone" is coming this FALL to ABC). Where are my ESPN royalties?

Marc Guggenheim Interview at Comic Book Resources

Oh. Dude's sick. That's another reason to look into him.

That's late 90's sick as in dope. That's early 90s dope as in bad. That's 80's (and 70's) bad as in good. Good is good.

Flixin: various

Hollywoodland:
For having a stupid dvd for so damn long... what a let down. Interesting set up - bad everything else.

Catch and Release:
Interesting to see mourning done in a lighter yet still emotional sense. I wasn't all that connected with much. Kinda went everywhere, but wasn't all that bad. Wasn't all that good either.

Ghost Rider:
Somehow I unofficially promised myself that I would never watch this movie being that it looked stupid and was written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson of Daredevil and Elektra infamy. Decided to watch it since it was lying around at the cribola, and was not surprised by what I got. I am a Nick Cage follower - not so much a fan per se - and I thought he was miscast. Then again, he didn't have all that much to work with. Can you say: NO DEPTH? Yes, there are attempts - but even the attempts were superficial. You say, "dude, it's about a dude with a burning skull, chill out." I say, "ridiculousness asks for and receives suspension, but there are no excuses for cutting corners on characterization, plot, and delivery." I was surprised at the beginning because it seemed like a competent movie - much better than Elektra or Daredevil started - but fell apart where the payoffs started to begin.

Been a bad string of movies lately - or maybe I'm just a TV junkie that I can't appreciate the silver screen. Oh. NEVER!

Transformers:
I was scared of what this movie would end up being. I knew the action would be intact since it was Michael Bay, but I was scared of the story. It's unapologetically campy - almost to the point of cheesey at times and that was off-putting sometimes. I saw some of the friends gushing... it was fun. Megan Fox is damn hot. Seeing the new transformer bodies turned out fine... starscream's in air transforming in particular was frickin amazing... but I'd seriously have to check the water of anyone saying this was the best movie ever. It's not a film. I get that. But I think Spider-man 2 was a far superior superhero movie. I love Megan Fox. "John, do you really love Megan Fox or are you just looking around and.." I love Megan Fox.

Spider-man 3:
Man. This was a let down.. and far inferior to the other stories. I felt like it was doing too much... I appreciated the attempt at combining the conflicts into one superhighway, but it still didn't work. It just dragged. *** SPOILER ALERT *** I sorta wished they killed Mary Jane by the way.. to make room for Gwen Stacy. Yes, it's a reverse of the comics, but the Kirsten Dunst Mary Jane is just.. DONE!

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer:
I may be off.. maybe expected less so thus was more satisfied, but I thought FF2 did a great job of honoring the family aspect.. giving the Silver Surfer some real depth.. being a truly kid-friendly action film (versus Transformers being a bit.. hmm.. not).. and Sue Storm (Jessica) and Johnny Storm had real depth in this installment also.

For later: The Curse of the Origin Stories.
