TV Responses Week of Oct. 30th
I didn't have much time last week to view shows on or near their nights, so most of the shows were seen this weekend. Obviously, I still have The Nine and Supernatural to cover. I also added Battlestar Gallactica - giving up on the hope that I can catch up. No, I'll just jump in. I've also added Las Vegas to the list, but I haven't had a chance or made the chance to watch it. I watched it initially when it first arrived on the market, but haven't continued. I still liked the show. Just got busy. And this was pre-DVR.
Oh, I added The O.C. this week because it premiered, and I was hoping that I'd be able to add it to the list, but it appears to be moving to another logjammed night: Wednesday. We'll see how I can swing the change. I watched absolutely ZERO of Season 3 mind you - and my drive for the show has always been Seth, Summer, and the non-soap operatic-melodrama of the show. So, in essence, I like 45% of the show. Oh, I did watch a bit last season: the intervention, seth smoking his first J, uh, that might've been one episode.
Onto the rankings and *short* responses:
Lost: Cost of Living – 26
This seemed like a logical Season Premiere. Lots going on. Lots of Exposition. Lots of logical questions. But really, why kill Eko like that? Oh yes, traffic school leads to death on the show.
Smallville: Fallout – 24
Bow Wow worked well. Good for him. I thought this unravelled a bunch of stories for the future and Chloe's more prominent role this week (versus last) was more than welcome. But really, why kill Raya like that? Hmm, no traffic school answer for this one.
Heroes: Better Halves – 23
I actually care about Niki this week. Were we supposed to know that "she" was the woman who was behind all of the framing and killing - because I knew that. Again, Hiro was the best part of the show. Peter still is annoying. Were we supposed to know that Claire's "bio-parents" were in fact Syler plants - because I knew that. Oh, and were we supposed to know that "neighbor" of Mohinder's dad was a Syler plant - because I knew that. I would've liked to have seen more Phasing. The show's getting better and their episodic arcs are getting tighter.
Veronica Mars: President Evil – 22
Generally enjoyable like it usually is, but I wasn't keen on Veronica immediately blaming Weevil. That soured the rest of the episode for me because for the rest of the arc, at least, I lost any empathy for her.
The O.C.: The Avengers - 20
Again, I barely saw any of Season 3, though I knew what was sort of going on. It doesn't seem like much has changed. Seth's still a dork. Summer's still conflicted on who she is. Ryan's still fighting but in this case for money and in a funky cage. I thought the slide show-comic book intervention worked too well. Summer's really emerged as a central-emotional character. Good job, Rachel!
I'll get to the Nine and Supernatural sometime soon.
Welcome back to Studio 60, tonight!! YES.
