Kanye West, "Late Registration" The Good and the Ugly

The full review on Kanye's "Late Registration" is up. Read the full review.

Excerpt:
"You get the same in Late Registration. Maybe it’s part of his act. He’s some hybrid of nerd (hence the genius) and thug (maybe for his Roc-a-filiation). Maybe he knows he’s corny and glorifies it. Yet, when he complains over and over again about how people were hating on him, you’re led to believe that he really thinks he’s clever lyrically and delivers as beautifully.

These deficiencies ruin the heart and soul of some of his songs. His best delivery came more in a spoken word cadence than a hip hop song during the first verse of “Roses” where Kanye’s talking about his grandma and the atrocity called the health insurance system. Line that ruined it? “We had so many aunties we could’ve had a auntie team” or something like that. Corny man."
